Coaching

Bill sees coaching as a one-on-one mentoring relationship with a pastor or worship leader.* Through coaching Bill will help you give voice to the deep questions you may have as you reimagine your church’s worship. With over forty years of diverse worship leading experience, Bill has learned from a wide array of ministry successes and failures. He has mentored many young worship leaders into successful ministries, and helped many others navigate difficult circumstances. His focus in coaching goes beyond inevitable relational or ministry struggles, delving into the foundational (biblical, theological, historical, and missiological) aspects of Christian worship. Bill can also help introduce your teams and congregation into the process of reimagining worship.

The Details

  • Lead Pastors: As the person primarily responsible for shepherding the congregation, we will focus on the biblical and theological foundations of worship. Most pastors do not learn this in seminary, tending to continue the same practices they have been familiar with in previous experiences. Through deliberate reflection we will fill in any blanks in your education and experience of worship, helping you to help those under your leadership.
  • Worship leaders and planners: Hopefully you have the blessing and support of your lead pastor as you experience the coaching process. We’ll explore together the deeper issues of your planning process, worship structure and leadership. While there are hundreds of websites and resources for how to lead a team, stage presence, arranging music, and other “technical” aspects of leading, not many are helping leaders get to root issues of why worship is not achieving what we think it should.
  • Coaching normally happens one-on-one either in person locally or phone/Zoom/FaceTime. 55-minute meetings will happen at a mutually agreed upon frequency… weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, and can last for 3-6 months, a year, or may even be open-ended.
